I never meant to become famous after returning home as the lone surviver off of the Brilliance Cruise ship. I only boarded it because luck decided to take pity on me , and let me win the ultimate cash prize of 1,000,000.00 US dollars from a lucky lottery I participated in a few weeks ago. The price of the cruise was, of course, free, and I enjoyed free luxurious meals as well as the best room of the house, second only to the Captain's chamber.
There was a sudden storm. Nobody was prepared for it, and as there's no cable on deck (extremely regretfully I might add), even VIP passengers such as myself were caught completely off guard. To make a long story short, I was flung over deck by the other members of the Cruise when they realized that the only way to save themselves was to throw cargo and other "unwanted items" (including me) over board. I would have protested if I wasn't half asleep through all this. I could have sworn it was all a dream except that the next second I found myself underneath a dark swell of a wave, coughing and screaming internally for my life.
I woke up: drenched, scorching, uncomfortable, with a mouthful of gritty sand. I was tired, and a little scared. I didn't know the tiniest bit of what to do when deserted on an island. Or peninsula. Or wherever I was stuck. I had absolutely nothing with me, except for the bath towel that was still wrapped around my head.
I huddled underneath a shade of some tall trees nearby, and cried.
When I woke up next, I was lying in a hospital bed. And that's how I survived.
I didn't.
